The position of the poet laureate is a longstanding tradition, but most state poets laureate are working in isolation and had never met. Yet the state laureates are committed to working within their communities and had strong beliefs about the role of the poet in the public arena. From this, the idea of a national gathering of all state poets laureate was born.
Our aim is to provide informal opportunities for poets, guests, and the audience to exchange information, discuss concerns, and share their vision.
